# Advise a client (/docs/ways-to-use-smb/advise-a-client)

**For:** CPAs, bookkeepers, advisors, and lenders

## Start here [#start-here]

1. Review the client's Business.
2. Add it to the team's Workspace when collaboration is needed.
3. Create a Room, Goal, and Tasks for the work ahead.

## Capabilities to use [#capabilities-to-use]

| Job                                    | SMB capability                                       | Available through |

## Example: value a client's business [#example-value-a-clients-business]

Use `business_id` when SMB already knows the business. Add only client-authorized `details`; they apply to this valuation and do not update the Business record.

```json
{
  "reference": "advisor-client-valuation",
  "items": [
    {
      "business_id": "biz_123",
      "details": {
        "annual_revenue": 2400000,
        "sde": 410000
      }
    }
  ]
}
```

This creates a shared starting point. It does not replace the professional's judgment or imply that private client financials are available.
